Last week I listed ten small things you can do to make a difference to help make the planet a healthier place.  How did you do?  Did you implement at least one thing from the list?  If you did, congratulations!   If not, maybe you’ll find a few things from this week’s list you can do.

So let’s get to it!

  • Plant a garden – try a container garden first
  • Buy rechargeable batteries
  • Put unused napkins back in their container
  • Bring your own coffee cup
  • Keep your car tires inflated properly (this saves on gas)
  • Support local farmers  click here
  • Use both sides of paper when printing
  • Turn your thermostat down 1 degree this summer
  • Recycle your old cell phones
  • Wash your clothes in cold water

My husband and I planted a garden a few months ago. It’s been quite the experience since neither of us had any idea what we’re doing.  We’ve learned quite a bit about what not to do, so when we plant again for the fall, maybe I’ll share a few tips.

Let me know how you’re doing with any of the small changes you made from last week’s list.

Have a happy week! J

Small Steps That Can Make A BIG Difference – Part 1

by Robin Carlton on June 15, 2009

I’ve been thinking about the little things we can do to make our planet just a little bit healthier.  Most of the time, these little things not only make a difference to our environment, but you’ll find that you’ll be keeping more of the green stuff in your wallet too.

I’ve compiled about 60 ideas of things that we can do to help out Mother Earth.  I’ve decided to break them down into six parts and I’ll post a set  of ten weekly.  This will give you an opportunity to pick a few and implement them each week.  Before you know it you’ll have made some pretty small changes that can add up to make a really BIG difference.   So, here’s the first ten.

  • Use cloth napkins
  • Switch to energy-saving bulbs ( I did this one already)
  • Hang dry your clothes (hey, before you  know it, it’ll be warm enough to dry your clothes in minutes outside!)
  • Make you next outfit vintage
  • Pay your bills online (this one’s pretty easy)
  • Just say no to plastic bags – (I’ve got about a dozen or so cloth bags that I keep in my car so I’ll have them available when I’m shopping)
  • Unplug your appliances when there not being used – (this is a work in progress for me)
  • Taste test a local wine
  • Rediscover the library – (I love the library!)
  • Switch off your computer when your not using it – This is especially a good idea when monsoon season arrives

These are just a few ideas to get you started this week.  I’ve already been doing some of this things and I think I’ll try to add at least one more to my list.  How about you?  Will you pick one or two things you can do this week to make a difference.

Instincts that Run Deep In All of Us

by Robin Carlton on April 24, 2009

Today, my friend sent me a video that tells a story showing us who we can be when we let go of our judgments and set aside our perceived differences. We have the power to help nurture others in ways we never imagined.

Although this story is about animals, it is truly a message for all us humans to remember who we are and what we are capable of doing because in truth, we are all connected and our natural instinct is to help others when needed.  No agendas, no commitments, no force, just pure love.

by Robin Carlton on April 5, 2009

peter-sterling-blog-post1Join award winning harpist/composer Peter Sterling for a special concert of celestial harp music inspired by beautiful visions of heavenly angels on Tuesday, April 14th at the Spiritual Enrichment Center. Peter’s unique blend of ethereal harp sounds and earthy exotic rhythms creates a true fusion of heaven and earth. To experience Peter perform is to have an unforgettable moment in time when both soul-stirring music and consciousness-altering ministry merge. You are likely to be transported into another space and time through the celestial sounds of the harp, and you can expect to be moved and inspired by the magical journey Peter takes you on through the story of his encounter with the angels.

“After your concert I went to bed that night totally besotted with energy that had blasted away three dimensional boundaries.  Energy from source flooded my being with overwhelming love/joy/bliss/utter dissolution of Judy in the flow of angelic power.” Judy, Calif.

Peters music has been studied at Arizona State University for its effect on brain wave states. It was found that the listener entrains to Theta within moments of listening to Peters heavenly harp music. Theta is known as the twilight state or visionary state of awareness which enhances creativity and whole brain integration for heightened states of clarity, focus , spiritual visions, and even miraculous healings!

Peter’s music has been used with great success in the treatment of pain associated with chemotherapy. Over 3,000 of Peters CDs have been given to women undergoing chemotherapy through the Crew Foundation in Pittsburgh, PA.

Peter came to the Arizona Enlightenment Center in 2007 and we sold out.  We’ve been asking him to come back and he was able to finally fit us in his schedule.   We don’t get too many concerts like Peter in the Valley so be sure to call now and register.

Feeling the Energy Shifts?

by Robin Carlton on March 27, 2009

Gosh, a lot has been going on this last year, wouldn’t you say?   How many of you can physically feel the energy shifts taking place?  For instance, have any of you been feeling some weird stuff in the last few weeks?  I sure have.

Since 2000 I’ve been much more sensitive to the energy shifts taking place on our planet.  During most of that time, I didn’t understand what it was, why it was happening and what to do about it.

In 2006 a friend of mine told me about a website called What’s Up On Planet Earth.  The author, Karen Bishop would write several articles a month telling her readers what she “knew” about the energy shifts.   At first, I didn’t really “get” what she was talking about.   It took about a year or so for me to realize that what she wrote about was what I was feeling.  Wow, what a relief that was.

emerging-earth-angels-blog-picture1

Today, Karen has a new site www.emergingearthangels.com.  You really need to visit the site to get a good understanding of who she is, why she does what she does and why she created a new website.  Here are just a few things you may find interesting:

·         Regularly updated messages concerning the current energies and how they may affect you

·         The option to sign up to receive her most recent posts

·         Excerpts of her books

·         A question and answer section

Go check it out and see if it resonates with you.  When I read her posts I’m still amazed at how right on she is with how I’ve been feeling the few days prior to her email.  When I’m having strange physical pains, I can’t seem to get motivated,  I’m  just feeling yucky or I feel something is brewing out there, Karen sends out  a post .  Her timing is impeccable.  Let me know what you think about emerging earth angels, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Watch for more resource articles like this one in the future.  If you’d like to recommend a resource that you have found to be helpful, let us know about it and we’ll check it out.

THOUGHTS ON DECEMBER 21, 2012

by Robin Carlton on March 13, 2009

At our Metaphysical Studies Group meeting this week, “Tian of Siam” spoke about what we can expect to happen as we get closer to December 21, 2012 – the “end of the Mayan Calendar.”  I’m sure most of you are aware of the shifts going on in our world. There are so many signs of change that it is undeniable that SOMETHING is about to happen.

Tian of Siam

Tian of Siam

Tian told of a tribe in Thailand that lives on the water and is totally in tune with messages that the water is giving. Before the tsunami in 2004, the tribe could see the signs of what was coming, so when the time was imminent, they gathered all their people into boats and floated out to sea.  The huge wave went right under them and they only experienced a fairly gentle rise in the water. All the chaos flowed right under them, and they were completely unaffected by probably the biggest tsunami in history.

What this means to us is that if we watch the signs and pay attention to them, we can be prepared to TAKE ACTION so that we will be mostly unaffected by all of the coming chaotic shifts that are predicted for our near future.  We can see the signs so we can prepare and not be adversely affected.

As she said, it is Better to Plan and Prepare than to Repent and Repair!

One of the main trends to come is “relocalization.” We will be focusing more on our local communities for protection and support. We will be gathering into communities of like-minded people. (This is one of the main purposes of the Arizona Enlightenment Center.)

In the midst of all the negative predictions in the media and gloom and doom talk amongst people, are you going to succumb to the great wave of negativity?  We are entering a period of darkness and the way for you to make it is to BE the Light yourself.  Together we can change the frequency of the earth by raising the frequency of the thoughts that we are all putting out.  All that this is is CHANGE. The negative only has the power that we give it. Prepare by getting YOUR Light stronger. You are powerful, not powerless.  If you get your frequency high enough, you will move fast enough and ride the wave of change. You’ll have a GREAT time!!

How’s Your Focus Been Lately?

by Robin Carlton on March 6, 2009

It’s been a rough year, or two, or twenty.  I find myself thinking about so many things.  I have so many ideas and so little time.  Do I have an attention deficit disorder or what?  My mind is here and then it’s there…like a roller coaster that never stops.  I’m having a hard time focusing on just one thing. Come to think about it, I’ve always had a hard time focusing on just one thing at a time.  Ugghh!

I’ve realized the best remedy for lack of focus is to write.  Write it down.writing-for-focus  It doesn’t matter what it is.  The grocery list, the “to do” list, chores to get done, who to call, and the most important one, ideas.

Do you find that you have a great idea and one minute later… poof, it’s gone?  Have you thought to yourself “hey, I need to look this up on the internet”, finished whatever it was you were doing, went to your computer, brought up the Google page and completely forgot what it was you were going to do?   Well, you’re not alone.

All I can say is that it takes work to focus on one thing at a time.  We live in a world where multi-tasking seems to be a common attribute among most people.  I’m ready to stop the madness.  I’m tired of having 25 unfinished projects sitting on my desk, handling each one as they become a big fat fire.

So, the last several weeks I’ve been focusing on focusing.  I’m working on breaking the bad habit of going from one project to the next project, only to start a new one.  I even kept a record of what I did for a whole week just to prove to myself that I actually get things done.  Yea, whatever, all that did was show me that I don’t get anything done.   Well, no more!  I choose to focus.  That’s why I wrote this article, to focus on writing.

Update

Since deciding that I was going to focus on one thing until I got it done I’m happy to report that I had a major accomplishment, I launched this blog. And, I finished another project.  I completed the About Page here on The Enlightened Blog.com.  Check it out.  It only took me several months!    Two completed projects in one month!  Oh my gosh!  I’m on a roll.

So, what about you?  Are you focusing on your projects and getting things done? If not, tell me what you’re going to do to get your stuff done.  And if you are one of “those” people who is super organized and getting your stuff done, tell me how you do it.

Farmer’s Market in Tonopah – Who knew??

by Robin Carlton on March 1, 2009

By Robin:    This week I saw an ad in the West Valley View of a Farmers Market in Tonapah. The ad said “All natural is better than organic.”  Now, what the heck is that supposed to mean?  So, I took a trip out there this morning and boy was I surprised.  A word of caution – you’ll need directions and you don’t want to use mapquest because as usual, they’re wrong.  I got lost but found my way eventually.  It’s quite a ways out there but I think you’ll find it’s worth the drive.   I met people from all over the place,  Cave Creek, Chandler, even Prescott.  And I thought I drove a long way……

So, back to the statement “All natural is better than organic”.    I asked Rob what he meant by all natural?   He tolladybugd me that all natural is better than organic because the farm uses all-natural methods such as beneficial bug warfare, green composts, natural fertilizers and companion planting  to ward off the pesty pests. Organic farms are allowed to use certain sprays and soaps, but Tonopah Rob’s doesn’t use either.

In addition to produce the farm has fresh eggs.  You’ll also find several other vendors out at the farm.  I bought tamales from Molly’s Tamales and boy where they good!  I also picked up some natural, homemade lemon all-purpose cleaner from JaNicki’s Eco-House.  It smells so good.   You can also find fresh bread, local honey, jams and jellies.   For those of you looking for fresh meat, The Meat Shop is featuring all natural specialty pork and Double Check Ranch is featuring all natural beef.  I don’t eat meat so I didn’t stop  by those booths, but there were quite a few people purchasing from both vendors.

Tonopah Rob’s considers themselves to be unique as they are the only farmer’s market that features all Arizona products.  The farm has a website that you can visit to get more information www.tonopahrob.com .  You’ll find the dates, times and directions (you’ll need them).    Rob, the owner, posts articles for the upcoming week and you’ll get  a chuckle when reading them.

Let us know what you think when you go out and visit  the farm by posting your comment here on the blog.  And don’t forget to sign up to recieve an email when we post new articles.

How did Arizona Enlightenment Center Come About?

by Robin Carlton on February 15, 2009

Editor’s Note:  There have been many inquiries asking what’s next for the Arizona Enlightenent Center.  This blog will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the center as the story continues.  We thought you’d like to know how it all began so here’s the story, written by Heather Clarke, Founder and Director of the Arizona Enlightenment Center.  Enjoy!

I have been on a spiritual journey since the middle 80’s (actually all my life, but I was not aware of it when I was younger). As soon as I was introduced to the metaphysical world, I went on a massive “download” of information when I read everything I could get my hands on and attended every workshop that crossed my path. At that time, I had no clue that I was being prepared for what is happening in my life right now.

As I was attending the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts from 2003-2005, I kept getting messages about bringing people together and teaching classes on different aspects of spirituality.  I had a folder where I collected ideas and thoughts on how this would look and play out.  But, of course, I was not taking action on it and actually DOING something about it—until I got an email from my good friend, Cindy Hoak, saying that I needed to get together with Marcie Ellis because Marcie wanted to start a metaphysical group so that she could connect with people she could talk with about spirituality.  I just smiled to myself and said, “OK, here we go…it’s time to get started!”

Cindy, Marcie and I got together and made a list of 30 people we knew who we thought would be open to such a group. At our first meeting in July 2004, sixteen people came, including a few we didn’t even know.  We started out having a discussion type of meeting twice a month, alternating the location between Marcie’s house, Cindy’s house and my house.  Eventually we ended up at my house because Marcie and Cindy travel a lot and were out of town.

As we were growing this spiritual community, I kept writing in my journal and at one time I wrote my thoughts about one day having a center out here on our side of the Valley with various healers and classes to help people raise their consciousness.

In August of 2004, I met Cathy Stuart, the former owner of Angel Wings in Scottsdale, and found out that she lives about a mile from me. I asked her for a reading, since I love getting messages that way. She came to my house and that reading was the first real message that there would be a Center out here in our area that would be really huge and would have a beacon of light going out from it that would just draw people in. She saw an old house, south of I-10, and said that we would be open within one year.

I was at the perfect place in my life to step into this project since I had just retired from selling real estate, our kids were grown and on their own, our deaf and blind dog had just died, and my husband was very supportive. I was READY.  But the messages that came in after that were telling me to just keep gathering people, attending workshops, networking, and they (my guides) would tell me later what to do with all of that.

In April 2005, I joined eight friends in going to the Hay House “I Can Do It!” conference in Las Vegas. One of our group had a friend who had come from the Washington State area who channeled a group called The Ancient Ones, and she wanted to know if we would like a group reading. Six of us jumped on that opportunity and met with her in our hotel room. Her name is Janice Lynch, and she is what you would call a “conscious channel.” That means that she is aware of what she is saying to you in the session, unlike some other channels who basically get out of the way and let the messages come through them without remembering anything about what they have said.

The Ancient Ones answered all of our personal questions, and then I asked a question for the group: “What about this spiritual center we are supposed to have?”  At that moment, Janice got all choked up and emotional and said, “It is time! Within the next 3 weeks, you have to get the place open because people are crying out for it and they don’t even know it. Stop waiting for a miracle for the huge place and be willing to start small. Take baby steps and rent a smaller place for now and then we will manifest with you something that is beyond your wildest imagination.”  They told us that we had already seen the building and not to worry that it is in the wrong location because we will change the energy of it.  We asked about the name, mentioned a few possibilities, and when the Enlightenment Center was mentioned, they said, “That’s it.”  It turns out that I HAD seen the building because I was already looking around. I knew we didn’t want something in a strip center because you have to sign a 3-5 year lease and someone has to sign personal responsibility for the payments—something that I knew I wasn’t going to do.  But my real estate broker owned a building in Goodyear that he was going to tear down to build an office complex. He only wanted 6-month leases so that when the time was right, he would be able to get started.

Here was a building that was an old house built in 1974 with slump block construction and a red tile roof, located in a pretty run-down area with old warehouses on one side, a construction site on the other side and a utility substation across the street. The house was set up inside like an office with a lobby, a kitchen, 3 bathrooms and 8 rooms that we could use for practitioners and classes.

As soon as we got back from Vegas, I sent an email to the group to ask them to come look at the place and get some feedback. During that weekend, 24 people came by and most of them could see the potential. At that time, someone volunteered to set up our website; someone volunteered to design our logo; someone said he could help with painting and repairs; people donated money, furniture, pictures and almost everything we needed. I researched the legalities of becoming a non-profit corporation and within 60 days we were open!  It was totally amazing.    So there we were in an old house, south of I-10 and open within a year of when Cathy told us we would have a Center out here. At that location, our intention was to make it a home where anyone could feel welcome and comfortable enough to come on in and just hang out. We installed a lockbox at the door and gave almost everyone the combination so that they could come and go as they wanted.   The energy was really beautiful and many people felt compelled to stop in just to see who we were and what we were doing.  One woman said that she could feel the energy as soon as she turned onto the street several blocks away. One man said as he drove by, he felt like he drove into a pillow, so he had to turn around and come in. We were able to stay at that location for 21 months until we got the notice from the owner that it was time to move.

We spent several weeks searching for the next location and eventually ended up sharing space at the Center of the Heart Yoga studio, just 2 miles north of the original location. This was a very elegant studio and we felt like we really moved up in the world!  We stayed there for 13 months and then got more undeniable guidance that we were to let go of the attachment to ANY physical location, continue our work in private homes or at various locations around the area, and allow the next location to manifest.

And here we are today, keeping the campfire burning, building the connections through the email list and website, offering classes and workshops, and preparing ourselves for the next phase of the Arizona Enlightenment Center.  We invite you to come along with us to experience this awesome adventure!
